DaVitri automates a specialized step in IVF egg freezing
In clinical trials, eggs frozen with DaVitri produced healthy embryos at rates comparable to or higher than eggs frozen manually.
Outcomes from traditional egg-freezing can vary considerably between clinics. "Standardized high-quality freezing addresses this head-on," says Overture Life CEO Hans Gangeskar.
Vitrification is one of IVF's most specialized procedures.
The process prepares eggs for flash-freezing. DaVitri automates it in a portable device, potentially reducing clinics' reliance on costly embryology labs and scarce specialists. The system has regulatory clearance in Europe, and a U.S. rollout is in the works. Overture Life, a Spanish reproductive-technology company, describes DaVitri as an automated microfluidics-based vitrification platform. In September 2025, the company opened a European preorder waitlist for the device.
Vitrification is also used to preserve fertility before cancer treatment. A clinical review discusses a 12-year experience with oocyte or embryo vitrification ahead of oncological treatment. The review covers fertility preservation generally, not DaVitri specifically. Its clinical overview also cites research comparing vitrification with slow freezing.
