Lossless Scaling Addon Manager brings XeSS, DLSS, and FSR to unsupported games

A major update to the Lossless Scaling Addon Manager lets users swap NVIDIA Image Scaling for Intel XeSS, NVIDIA DLSS, or AMD FSR. Now, cutting-edge upscaling works in games that never offered it.

Some games never get official upscaling. That just changed. The new 0.9.12 version of the Addon Manager for Lossless Scaling lets players ditch NVIDIA Image Scaling and use Intel XeSS, NVIDIA DLSS, or AMD FSR-even in games where developers never added these features.

This is a big leap. The update reroutes the scaling process to modern temporal upscalers. That means players can use advanced image reconstruction that was once locked to certain hardware or software. The main highlight is full support for the Intel XeSS 3 SDK runtime version 2.0.2. It works on Intel Arc, AMD Radeon, and NVIDIA GeForce cards. Players get sharper images and better frame rates in more games. The difference is clear.

The Addon Manager is designed as an independent layer that loads alongside Lossless Scaling, enabling users to switch and configure upscalers without modifying individual games.

The 0.9.12 build adds new controls for sharpness and anti-aliasing. It also handles HDR content correctly. Users can now fine-tune edge clarity and HDR rendering to match their setup. The developer has reworked how the tool interacts with the graphics pipeline. It should run smoother and crash less often.

There is one thing to know. The Addon Manager is not an official Lossless Scaling extension. It is a community project. It works as an add-on for Lossless Scaling version 3.2.2.0 on Windows 10 and 11 x64. The official project repository confirms that DLSS, FSR, and XeSS are all managed in one place. This lets users run these upscalers in games that never supported them. The 0.9.12 notes say XeSS works on any GPU with Shader Model 6.4. That means it is not just for Intel Arc. For more details, the official project repository has full documentation and update logs.

There is a catch. The new XeSS path has only been tested in synthetic benchmarks. It has not been proven in real games yet. Users might see bugs or odd behavior in some titles. Still, the groundwork is there. Earlier patches already improved HDR for DLSS and FSR. The developer also split vendor runtime libraries into separate system processes. If a third-party upscaler crashes, the main Lossless Scaling app keeps running.

The 0.9.12 release marks the first time XeSS upscaling is available as an option in the Addon Manager, but the developers note that it has not yet been fully tested in actual games, so users should expect possible issues in early use.

This update changes the game. The Addon Manager is no longer just a workaround. It is now a serious tool for PC gamers who want the best image quality, no matter what the developer supports. Modular, cross-vendor upscaling is here. User-driven tools are moving faster than official updates. For anyone chasing top visuals, this release sets a new bar.
