If you have recently started a new fitness regimen, you may be wondering how you are going to reach and maintain your goals, or you may simply want to keep track of how well you are doing. Fortunately, there are many types of fitness and activity tracking apps that can help keep you on track.

Below are five of our favorites for the Android operating system:

Runtastic Pedometer

Runtastic Pedometer

If you simply want to use a pedometer to track your steps, Runtastic is a great choice. This app can keep track of your daily steps and then combine the data into graphs so that you can see how well you are doing.

Endomondo Sports Tracker

This is one of the most popular all-around trackers on the market today. The Endomondo sports tracker can track walking, running, cycling, and a number of other fitness activities. You can then upload everything to the Endomondo website for in depth analysis and social interactions. You can also easily share your activities on social media sites such as Facebook from within the application.

Runkeeper

Runkeeper App

One of our favorite apps for tracking runs, walks, and bicycle rides is Runkeeper. Using this app, you can track where you have been via GPS, create specific routes and workout routines, build your own music mixes, and much more. As it is available for both the iPhone and Android operating systems, you will not lose all of your saved information if you decide to change phones at some point. As with Endomondo, you can share your activities with your social media friends on Twitter and Facebook.

CardioTrainer

CardioTrainer

One of the first Android fitness trackers, CardioTrainer is still a popular choice and a great way to track your activities. This app is a little different from many of the others as it includes weight-loss goals. Additional modules can be purchased individually, or you can purchase the Pro version and have access to all modules.

Strava

Strava

In order to track cycling and runs, you need an accurate GPS application that will not deplete your battery, and Strava is one of the best. This app works on both iOS and Android as well as many GPS devices. It is extremely simple to use, all you need to do is turn it on, start running or cycling, and Strava will track your location. When you are finished, you can see where you have been, your average speed, and much more. What really makes Strava stand out from similar apps is that you can set up networks and challenge friends and family members to races. You also have access to the website where you can find a number of public challenges.

This is only a small list of some of our favorite apps for tracking fitness activities. There are many other apps that can track your steps, runs, bike rides, calories burned and many other things. There are even apps that can track your sleep patterns, but we’ll save those for another article.
