How To Create An Online Course With WordPress

Businesses and educators can create their own courses for online use by using WordPress. The platform offers everything needed to get started. First, individuals will set up their own user account with the platform. The user will review all the hosting packages and website designs for their course. The platform offers exceptional tools to help users create their content and get memberships.

Set Up a WordPress Website

The creator starts by setting up hosting services with WordPress and choose a domain name for the course. They sign up for the services and follow instructions on the screen to set up the website. With the hosting services, the user receives a free SSL certificate, a domain name, and support services for their new website. The WordPress LMS plugin comes with the hosting package. The user will pay an ongoing fee for the hosting services and their newly created website.

Install and Setup A Learning Management System

Install and activate a MemberPress plugin. Doing so is a must for managing the learning system and tracking how users complete the course. The owner receives a control panel to track when payments are completed and how often their users sign in and complete sections of the course.

The owner will go into their settings and enter their license key to activate the plugin. Once it is activated, the users and the owner have access to account details. Users have their own control panel through their user account. The owner has access to their control panel through their WordPress account.

Create the Course

Go to the MemberPress and select “Courses,” and the owner can begin setting up their courses. Next, select “Add New” on the Courses tab. The owner adds details about their course including categories and tags for the course. They control the status and visibility of the course through this tab. Once they make these selections, they can go to the next step.

Add Sections and Lessons for the Course

Next, the website owner clicks the “Curriculum” tab. Next, they select “Add Lesson.” They will follow the directions on the screen for uploading each section of the course. They will continue to follow these steps until they have set up all sections and lessons for the course.

Create Course Membership Subscriptions

After a user has paid for their membership or subscription to the course, the owner clicks on the “Memberships” tab on the dashboard. Next, the owner clicks on “Add New.” They enter information for the user including their name and a new ID number. The owner must set up permissions for each membership and the amount the user pays each month for the services.

Next, they restrict access to members only by clicking on the “Rules” tab and then select “Content and Access.” They will select the course that the user signed up to complete in the protected content section. Next, they choose what type of membership the user has under “Access Conditions.”
