Social media platforms is a great way to promote your cause and build a following for your brand. There are a great deal of ideas out there that seem like sure fire ways to grow your accounts. In all honesty, there isn’t a sure fire way to make your following grow on social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest. However, there a few things you can do that will help you to have a better chance of gaining people who are interested in your passions.

Post Great Content

One of the best things you can do to gain a following is to post great content. Be sure that everything you share or say on the social media platform of your choosing, is something that is worth reading. When people come across your brand, they will follow you without any prompting if you have managed to add value to their lives. The internet is flooded with content, but much of it lacks originality along with engagement. Be sure that you are posting information that is useful and presented in an interesting way.

Engage in the Community

Engaging yourself in the social media community you are posting in is another key to building a following. Be a real person and share your personal experiences with others. We are in an age where followers want to deal with real people, not robots. It is important that you respond to comments that are made on your posts, along with making comments on other individual’s accounts. When you spend time getting to know others and showing them you are interested in their passions, they will return the favor. Being genuine is greatly appreciated by others.

Utilize Hashtags and Keywords

You might have the best content out there, but if people are not able to find you, then it is a loss cause. Be sure you are utilizing hashtags or keywords on whichever platform you are working with. Instagram and Twitter accounts rely heavily on the use of proper hashtags. To a lesser degree, Facebook can be searched by a hashtag system. On Pinterest, building boards and adding pins that are rich in keywords will help people find your content. You can do a few quick searches to figure out which hashtags are most popular and what keywords will help your content be found.

Be Very Friendly

When interacting through social media platforms, it is very important to be friendly and nice with your comments and words. Using emoticons will convey the right message to your readers. Text based relationships can easily be misconstrued as there is no body language that can be read. Building connections with your readers requires you to make a greater effort in being friendly and kind. Read over your messages and comments before posting to be sure it won’t be taken in the wrong manner.

Don’t Oversell Yourself

Followers will very quickly get turned off to sales pitches. If they feel that you are trying to sell yourself on them, you can rest assured you will lose followers. People will like your brand if you present yourself in a humble manner. Just be who you are, and let the community decide whether or not they find your brand of value. Be a leader, and others will join you. When you take a personal approach to growing your social media accounts, others will naturally want to share your information with their friends. All of us share information that we find valuable with those we love. However, most of us will not pass along posts that we feel obligated to share.

Be Patient While You Grow

It takes time to grow your social media accounts and therefore, you should be ready to wait while they grow. The more you work at promoting your brand through non-sales pitch ways, more people will take notice of what you are doing. Growth will take place, but it is a slow process. It is important to not grow impatient and try to force people to be passionate about your brand.

Building your accounts can be a fun experience as you put together valuable information and interact with those that make comments on your posts. Be genuine with those that choose to like your pages or share your posts, and your accounts are sure to grow in the way you hope they will.
