GATE

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the highly sought-after exams for engineering graduates across the country that helps candidates secure jobs in PSUs like ONGC, BHEL, IOCL, BPCL, BTPC, etc. These exams are easy to crack as they test a candidate’s knowledge of undergraduate subjects of engineering and science.

Eligibility:

  • An applicant must have completed or must at least be in the final year of graduation in Technology/ Engineering or hold a Master’s degree in Science on any relevant subject.
  • There is no age limit for GATE.

UPSC (IES)

The Union Public Service Commission conducts the IES- Indian Engineering Services exams for engineering graduates which provides an opportunity to work with various organizations governed by the Central government. The job offered involves technical as well as managerial work.

Eligibility:

  • A candidate must hold a B.E. or B.Tech degree from a recognized university or its equivalent.
  • Candidates must be between 21-30 years of age.

UPSC Civil Service (IAS)

Considered one of the toughest and most prestigious exams in the country, the UPSC IAS (Indian Administrative Exams) is the most competitive exam in the country. Policy making, maintenance of law and order, revenue collection and general admiration are some of the duties of an IAS officer. It is considered one of the most esteemed jobs in the country.

Eligibility:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university is a must for candidates applying for IAS.
  • Candidates must be between 21-30 years of age.

ISRO/ BARC

ISRO as well as BARC are the two other options for candidates who wish to continue in more technical fields. The work profile is more research related. ISRO as well as BARC are also government organizations under the Central Government.

Eligibility:

  • ISRO conducts an examination called the ICRB. Candidates who wish to apply for this exam, must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology in ECE, CSE and ME. Age limitation varies based on the post offered.
  • B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc or 5-year Integrated M.Sc with an average of at least 60%. 
  • Candidates can also opt to be evaluated on their recent GATE scores. 

SSC JE

The Staff Selection Committee conducts the SSC JE examination, providing candidates an opportunity to apply to the Junior Engineer’s post in the Government Sector. These positions not only provide handsome salaries but offer job security too.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must possess a B.E/B. Tech. Degree or a Diploma in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Candidates must not be less than 18 years or more than 32 years of age.

RBI Grade B

The next option is to take up the RBI Grade B exam and choose to work with the Apex Bank of India, the Reserve Bank. This exam is one of those first steps that will probably take to become the next Governor.

Eligibility:

  • Minimum of 60% average for all semesters or equivalent grade in Bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates must be between 21 to 30 years.

RRB

The Railway Recruitment Board releases the highest number of recruitments throughout the country. The RRB recruits for both technical as well as non-technical posts making RRB one of the most viable options available for graduates.

Eligibility:

  • Graduation in relevant field is a must.
  • Candidates must be between the age of 18-32 years
  • Candidates applying for any position offered by RRB, are required to be physically fit and must have a healthy eye- sight. 

PSU

The PSUs are Government owned corporations that provide employment opportunities to reputed organizations such as IOCL,ONGC, DRDO, POSOCO, HURL, etc.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must possess 60% or CGPA equal to 60% from a recognized university. Final year engineering students can also apply.
  • Candidates must be between the age of 18-32 years.
