Call of Duty fans are eagerly awaiting the annual release of the latest installment of the franchise. The new game is a sequel to the 2019 release of Modern Warfare. Since that release in 2019 players have also seen the 2020 release of Black Ops Cold War and the 2021 release of Vanguard.
The 2022 release of Modern Warfare 2 launches players back into modern times; with modern weapons, vehicles, and tech back in the game. But the list of new features being added to the game does not end there. Let’s take a look at what you can expect from this year’s installment of COD.
Release Date
Let’s start with the easy part. The official release date for Modern Warfare 2 is October 28th, 2022. However, those who choose to pre-order the game will receive early access to the campaign on October 20th. That is a full week before the official release which gives players ample time to grind through the extravagant storytelling COD has in store for its biggest fans.
Now, this early access should not be confused with the early access to the Beta which is available in September for those who pre-ordered the game via Playstation. This will be a first look at the multiplayer aspect of gameplay which is usually a bigger draw than the campaign anyway. Early access players will get first looks at a handful of maps as well as get to level up and test out the new guns introduced in the game. However, it should be noted any leveling of weapons will not carry over from the beta to the full game.
Lastly, Warzone 2 will release at the end of the year but an official release date has not yet been announced. This will probably be one of the biggest draws to the game as battle royal modes have taken over much of gaming.
Wagers and Tournaments
For our competitive players, you can expect to see a new slew of wagers and tournaments popping up upon the release of Modern Warfare 2. Search and Destroy is a favorite of wager players and will undoubtedly be one of the first game modes released. If betting on the outcome of a game of S&D doesn’t peak your fancy, you may try out kostenlose automaten spiele instead.
If you want to watch your favorite streamers compete in these tournaments, you can do so on Twitch.
Maps
There will be two categories of maps in MW2. Core maps and Battle maps.
Core Maps: fans of the franchise will recognize these maps as classic 6v6 maps built for close-quarter gun fights and game modes such as Domination, Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Free for All.
Battle Maps: These will release when Warzone 2 releases. It will be segments of the larger battle royal map that players can play different game modes on.
As of right now, data miners have seemingly discovered two maps with a possible third. The first is Farm 18 which appears to be an overgrown farm map. The second is called Grand Prix which is a section of a F1 Grand Prix track.
A third possible map is called oil field and seems to be based somewhere in the Middle East.
Regardless of which game mode you enjoy most, Modern Warfare 2 seems to be posed to bring something to the table for everyone. The only question now is, will you pre-order or wait for the official release?
